Glimpse
Glimpse app on Facebook: discovery inspired by likes.

In addition to the app, there are Glimpse Catalogs: items are displayed in a Pinterest-style layout, with the focus on the image and minimal product details. There are now catalogues from around ninety retailers. Glimpse uses all the Like data that Facebook users produce in a smart way. This data is analysed and converted into a personalised stream of products that increase the chance of a sale.

Want & Collect
Social discovery and the possibilities for e-commerce are still in their infancy. The examples show that some parties are already eagerly using the possibilities of this new trend. Of course, Facebook is not sitting still either. The largest social network is working on res list to data ponding more specifically to the preferences of users. 'Facebook Collections' should enable retailers to add 'Want' and 'Collect' buttons to news posts about products.

Want button
Facebook tests with a “Want” and a “Collect” button

A Like button can mean that a user already has the product. In that sense, the Want button has more value for a retailer. Users can use these buttons to create a wish list, from which they can buy the products. This new button should help retailers generate more traffic to their websites. Facebook is currently testing the new button with a number of retailers. Keep a close eye on this development and the new platforms! Social discovery could become very big for the e-tailer.
