The New Way of Working is no longer a fashion term, nor is Bring Your Own Device. More and more organizations use both concepts. Because if you as an organization do not follow this, you have little chance of attracting talented young workers. However, starters on the labor market are also expected to know how to work smart themselves. Education currently offers little connection on this point. Why is that and what can be improved?
Clap skate generationwork in the same way as the generation that teaches them. This means teaching material from books, which are often years if not decades old. Taking notes with pen and paper and the teacher standing in front of the – if you list to data are lucky – smartboard. The teachers are often not sufficiently aware of how things can be done differently, or they do not know how to implement such changes in education. They are from the generation that has not been exposed to good ICT resources from an early age. This is an obstacle to the development of the current generation of students and pupils. In the skating world, an enormous development has also been visible when the generation that learned to skate directly on clap skates joined the seniors. The 18-year-old Sven Kramer immediately became Dutch Allround Champion and left the established order behind him.
ICT support
The ICT support that educational institutions do offer employees and students often does not meet the requirements of this time. The systems must meet many organizational requirements and connect to existing legacy systems, which hinders innovation and further development. In the business world, this principle is increasingly being abandoned and employees are given freedom in how and with which tools they want to work. Why is this not also used in education? Can't it be much more fun and better?
