Info-reduction: the year of filtering

Post by Bappy10 »

2012 is over, it is time for the familiar trend lists and predictions. We have taken a step back from our daily work to see what is happening in society and the safety domain. With the help of our followers on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter we have arrived at the five trends below for the safety domain in 2013.
This year will be the year of filtering. According to Rick de Haan, this will be the solution for dealing list to data with Big Data. But in addition, according to us, it is a solution for finding out: What is true and what is not true? And how do you find out? What starting points for the information status do you take? We will all learn to filter more and better in the web of information that social media offers us. After all, if we are to believe Ted Talk by Donnie Fowler and Zach Friend, Big Data can have a lot of added value.

Another great Ted talk is by Markham Nolan. It was previously on Frankwatching, but we would like to share it again.

He talks about how to distinguish fact from fiction, using a few practical examples. A local police officer from the centre of Oss hopes that users will keep or make their bios on social media the same, which will make it easier to retrieve information about certain people. In a society where data is the new oil, filtering information is therefore worth its weight in gold. Those who can filter can flourish in our society.
