Detect and avoid internal duplicate content

An important on-page measure that should be implemented as part of search engine optimization is the prevention of duplicate content (DC). This refers to content that is accessible under different URLs. This means that there are one or more "copies" of a document. Google wants to avoid multiple pages with the same content appearing in search results. It is therefore important to "tell" the search engine which URL is the original and which is the copy.

The extent to which DC is a problem for Google is debatable. What is clear, however, is that jamaica cell phone number list/ proper indexing of pages is beneficial and should not make indexing pages more difficult.

Duplicate content can be detrimental because Google prefers unique content. The search engine aims to show its users the best quality search results for every search query and thus satisfy the needs of searchers – a high standard that Google has strived to achieve through various measures and has become increasingly better at in recent years. If different URLs have the same or very similar content, the algorithm can no longer determine which URL is the most relevant and deserves to be included in the search results. The result is often poor performance for both URLs, or Google constantly switches between the URLs in the search results pages (SERPs). Consistent ranking is therefore impossible for otherwise good content.
