Do you know how to protect data in cyberspace?

Post by suchona.kani.z »

Cybersecurity is more important than ever . At least every month, if not every week, we witness some kind of hacking attack. For example, in early August 2017, hackers successfully attacked HBO and stole episodes of the popular series Game of Thrones.

MALL.cz announced in the summer that it had " recorded an attempted security breach ". The attack targeted an older database of user passwords. It therefore sent out a request to some customers to change their passwords. Such incidents at the very least damage the brand's reputation , if they do not cause more extensive material damage.

DATA PROTECTION TRAINING

Why secure data?
It is absolutely necessary to secure the servers , which is usually taken care of by the hosting provider. The price depends on the quality of the security. It is also a good idea to have websites using the encrypted HTTPS protocol . Google also recommends this and prefers encrypted sites. In the case of sites with logins, an encrypted connection is standard.

Few people will be able to resist a direct hacker attack, such as the one business owner database on HBO, and few will be the target of such an attack. Like a bank robbery, hacking into the servers of a global giant is very difficult.

Nevertheless, attempts to attack the system do occur . The easiest way to try to break the security is to rely on human error . This strategy pays off. According to research by the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, people in most cases know not to click on unknown links, but they still click on them without thinking:

Almost half carelessly click on links in emails

The immediate danger is malware – malicious programs that spread over the Internet. In addition to viruses, malware is also extortion ransomware. In June 2017, the world was paralyzed by the Wannacry ransomware, which spread via email. In January, someone targeted phishing emails against ČSOB clients, an attack aimed at stealing login information.

A malware epidemic can be started by an innocently opening an attachment – a security mistake that can be easily prevented.

The password is the basis
All it takes is a little knowledge and rules about what behavior to avoid. Children also learn not to play with matches, and it's the same with the internet.
