1. Discover its impressive historic center
Although heavily bombed at the end of the Second World War, the centre of stockholder data Munich has been rebuilt and has regained all its splendour. Mainly pedestrianised, it lends itself perfectly to a lovely stroll to discover the historic heart of the city.
First of all, go to the unmissable Marienplatz, a true symbol of the city with its two town halls (the new and the old), its column and its fountain. The new town hall (Neues Rathaus) impresses with its 85-metre-high belfry that dominates the square. You can climb it and enjoy a beautiful view of the city centre and in particular of the old town hall (Altes Rathaus). Several events and festivals take place on Marienplatz throughout the year, including a magnificent Christmas market.
Among the many other historical treasures that abound in central Munich are the immense Frauenkirche (Frauenkirche) and the Odeon Square (Odeonsplatz).
