Python - The Language of Choice

Post by rakhirhif8963 »

It's no surprise that most organizations are taking steps to secure open source software:

40% said they use vulnerability and security scanning software;
33% create and use custom and proprietary software;
27% conduct manual audits of models and applications.
However, only about 9% do not secure their Open Source supply chains, and 24% are not confident in this.

The report also looks at how organisations are securing their open source software supply chains, finding that:

43% use a managed repository;
36% use a vulnerability scanner;
35% perform manual checks against the bolivia mobile database database;
19% do not secure their Open Source pipelines.
Contribution to Open Source
How do employers reward employees for their contributions to open source? It varies: 54% allocate time and 51% allocate funding specifically for open source projects. Another 37% allocate team members to participate in such projects.

This is a data science report, and of the wide range of job titles covered, the largest number were data scientists, at 16%. Another 8% were data engineers, 13% were students, and 8% described themselves as developers. So it makes sense that Python was the most popular language among respondents, with 58% of respondents saying they always or often use Python. Only 6% said they never used Python.
