presenting the results of the study of the information security market in Russia during a press conference on November 17, cited the following statistics: out of 16 international information security vendors represented in Russia before February 2022, 14 left completely, and another, formally maintaining a presence, completely stopped servicing in the Russian Federation. The study, according to him, showed that a third of potential customers do not have enough supply on the domestic information security market, the same number complained about the lack of information about the products presented on it, although the majority of respondents - 56% - name the shortage of personnel and the complexity of migration to Russian systems as the main difficulty.

So, in his opinion, some overpricing is a direct consequence of such underfunding of promising developments, which exacerbates the lack of other investment channels.
Viktor Gulevich, Director of the Information Security Center of the T1 Group holding, noted that many Russian information security vendors have not overcome a whole bunch of growing pains, including neglect of technical support, training, and interaction with integrators. Also, according to his assessment, a typical situation was when products initially oriented towards the SMB segment had to be quickly adapted for large businesses, and a side effect of this process is problems with scaling and performance, which have not been overcome to this day.
Pavel Andrianov, IT Director of the National Settlement Depository, also named one of the characteristic features of many Russian products as their insufficient technological maturity. Also, in his opinion, a serious problem is the lack of benchmarks and best practices for the implementation of Russian products, which is the cost of the short time of existence of many Russian solutions.
Andrey Nuikin, Head of the Information Systems Security Department at Evraz LLC, noted that a full-fledged replacement has not yet appeared in a number of segments of the information security market, and large companies are in the most difficult situation, since the deficit of solutions for protecting high-load systems is the highest. He also called the high variability in a number of segments a big challenge for potential customers.
Igor Lyapunov suggested that the situation on the Russian information security market will change dramatically in a year or two - the number of both players and products in many sectors will decrease significantly. Also, in his opinion, prices and wages will become more reasonable.
UserGate Development Manager Ivan Chernov predicted that no later than in five years, the entire corporate information security market in Russia will be occupied by several ecosystems that will offer a similar set of closely interconnected integrated services. Already now, a number of vendors, including UserGate, in his opinion, are actively building such ecosystems. Thus, on November 16, UserGate announced a large-scale update of the UGOS 7.1 OS, which includes new functions. In addition, the public testing phase of the long-awaited SIEM and EDR/NAC class systems has begun, the completion of which is scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.
