Position tracking, featured snippets

Post by sharminakter »

To see if you currently have featured snippets, head over to the Position Tracking tool (you'll need to set up a campaign for your site if you don't already).

Switch to the Featured Snippets tab to see if you already have featured snippets for the keywords you track and if there are other possibilities.

With this information, you can determine which featured snippets to optimize.

Let's look at the example above: "can dogs eat watermelons".

Open an incognito window or use a resource like I Search From to ensure your location doesn't impact the results.

We can now find the site that has the snippet and see how they structured their content on the page to win it.

Featured snippet for a question
If you rank #10 for this example, you can optimize the page student data and possibly get the featured snippet.

Do some manual competitor research and see what the page that got the featured snippet has that yours doesn't.

Does it include a concise, user-friendly definition of the question?
Does it answer the question directly with enough detail?
Does it present a useful list that matches the search intent?
In the example above, we can see that the page answers the question directly in the meta title and a helpful - but concise - answer is pulled from the page.
