Being me in Rock Content

Post by asikurrahmanshuvo »

During this same period, I ended a two-year relationship. For the first time in my life, I hit rock bottom and understood that I needed to answer the constant question in my mind: am I trans? That's how I began the chapter of my non-binary trans life at Rock Content.

Before I move on to this process of coming to terms with who I am, it’s important to mention that I was already dealing with recurring episodes of gender dysphoria, but not with clarity or awareness. Only after this intense week did the episodes begin to occur more frequently.

As I found myself stuck in a loop of self-rejection, societal rejection, and social media rejection that wasn’t helping much, I started getting curious and researching more about the non-binary denmark consumer mobile number list trans experience, and taking steps to embrace change. After all, new things always come! Giving up is not an option. Overcoming every setback or defeat is better than winning. Overcoming mental challenges on a daily basis is such a pleasure!

What I can share from this experience is that I felt fortunate for two main reasons: first, my family and my close circle of friends in general offered me all the necessary support, and second, the workplace at Rock Content was warm and friendly.

Regarding the workplace, three main points stood out for me:

Diego Gomes, one of the Founders and CEO of Rock Content, texting me memes and clips of Lady Gaga (one of my favorite artists) and his constant commitment and care to make the most appropriate use of my pronouns;

Lakeshia Highsmith, our VP of People and Culture, met me at the airport when I was in Washington, and we had an amazing dinner. We talked openly about gender identities, which showed her true commitment and concern for me as a person.

Lastly, the way I was received by the entire HR team, with messages and support when I decided to change my corporate accounts from Gabriel (official name) to Ariel (preferred name), special thanks to Nicholas Green, Gabriela Crego, Miguel Frizon, Juliana Arges, Sofia Cabral, Vanessa Figueiredo, Amanda Soares and David Reis.

I learned from Inclusify author Stefanie K Johnson how important it is to live and lead in a way that recognizes and celebrates unique and dissenting perspectives while creating a collaborative and open-minded environment where everyone feels like they truly belong.
