The network has been built up over years, you don't just give it up

Seats2Meet in Eindhoven was the setting for the very first (official) LinkedIn conference in the Netherlands on Monday. And the organization immediately went all out. A combination of plenary keynote sessions with interesting speakers, workshops and of course networking made for a varied program. The most important learnings, tips & tricks about LinkedIn.

LinkedIn Congress
The organization can look back on a successful first edition of the LinkedIn Congress . The turnout was good with 140 attendees. "We are very satisfied with today, this tastes like more. There will definitely be more of this," said one of the initiators, Jan Willem Alphenaar, afterwards.

“Get answers to all questions about how LinkedIn can be used within your organization,” was the proposition of the congress. Various speakers, including Lena Olivier of LinkedIn Netherlands, were asked to share their vision, specific knowledge and experiences about LinkedIn. A short impression.

Why LinkedIn Isn't Going Away Anytime Soon
Richard van der Blom and Jan-Willem Alphenaar jointly open the congress and welcome everyone. Jan Willem takes us through the internet revolution of the last 2 decades in 25 minutes. A fairly general introduction to the congress, but one remark stands out. His vision of LinkedIn as a social business network platform. Why are channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Hyves bolivia mobile phone number list transient and will LinkedIn remain the business platform in the Netherlands in the coming decades? His vision:

LinkedIn has won the battle against competitors.
The company is making a profit, even before its IPO.
The platform is not sensitive to hype.
There is little nonsense and waste in content.
It's good business to do business on LinkedIn.
LinkedIn's Economic Graph
After the opening of the congress, it is LinkedIn's turn. Unfortunately, the adage 'get answers to all your questions' does not entirely apply to this presentation, as is often the case with Dutch 'delegates' of a large American company.

Lena tells in 25 minutes about the development that the company is currently going through. She introduces this with a video about the social media revolution in 2013 and what the role of LinkedIn has been in this. Did you know that 2 new members join the platform every second? Impressive!

A very interesting development at LinkedIn is the 'economic graph' , comparable to the Facebook Graph Search. This makes it possible to map out a 'career path' within the platform. You also have direct insight into how far you are from your goal and what you still have to do to get there. In short, a nice and inspiring story, but quite general.
