The coronavirus pandemic has caused Twitch consumption to skyrocket . The number of active channels grew from 3.75 million in February 2020 to 7.4 million in July of that same year. This represented an increase of almost 200% in just 4 months.

Given this exponential growth of the platform and to prevent users from getting tired of the same type of content, Twitch decided to invest in new formats and diversify its content offering .
Some examples of this type of content are: series, programs and live, interactive and self-produced interviews related to video games, sports or music that aimed to attract different audiences to the platform.

For its part, the 2023 Social Media Study by IAB Spain and Elogia, which analyses the situation and penetration of networks in Spain, provided more revealing information about Twitch. While in the previous edition, this was one of the social networks whose spontaneous knowledge increased, this year it has decreased, from 6% to 2% . However, if we talk about suggested knowledge , the panorama improves, Twitch rises 5 points and 46% of Internet users claim to know it.
