Meta has paused the launch of its AI in Europe

CAs we had already mentioned a few weeks ago, Meta was planning to use its users' data to train its own artificial intelligence. Thanks to the GDPR, in Europe we have the right to object to the use of our data for this purpose, but now the launch of Meta's artificial intelligence has been indefinitely paused in Europe following complaints and a request from the Data Protection Commission (DPC).

Why Meta has paused the launch of its artificial intelligence
According to Meta, the Irish watchdog had asked it last Friday to delay the development of its large language models (LLM) using public content from Instagram and Facebook.

“ We are disappointed by the request from the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC), our lead regulator, on behalf of the European data protection authorities… particularly as we have incorporated regulatory feedback and the European data protection authorities have been informed since March, ” the company said in an updated blog post.

The advocacy group has asked data protection authorities venezuela number data in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Spain to launch an urgent procedure due to the impending changes.

Meta has made this decision because without collecting local data they will only be able to provide a “second-rate” experience to their users and so they cannot launch this model in Europe at the moment.

NOYB president Max Schrems attributed Meta’s temporary pause to complaints filed by the group last week.
“ There is no official change to Meta’s privacy policy so far, which would make this commitment legally binding. The cases we filed are ongoing and will need determination ,” he said in a statement.

For now, we will have to wait to be able to use Meta's artificial intelligence in Europe.
