Google's Knowledge Graph: Child's Play

Post by Bappy10 »

Search for logical connections & conclusions
In Paris, as always in early December, the big three-day conference LeWeb is taking place. Speakers and 3,000 spectators come from all over the world. This year's theme is the Internet of Things . More and more devices, smartphones for example, are feeding the internet with measurement data. Temperature, distance, steps, conversations, speed, billions of data end up in a digital trough. The challenge now is to draw sensible conclusions from this.

Google LeWeb2012has a unique position at the heart of the web. On the one hand, it is looking for possible questions, on the other hand , it wants to guide its audience to the list to data answers as best as possible. Ben Gomes spoke in Paris about Google's Knowledge Graph , a visual representation of facts floating around the internet. Knowledge Graph tries to make connections between Da Vinci and Picasso, between recipes and shops, between holidays and cultures, in a way that is reminiscent of mind mapping.

In Paris it is confirmed that it is all child's play. Millions of meters dump their results in a big feeding trough and Google is looking for the questions because they have all the answers. And in addition, they do their utmost to display the path to the answers as beautifully as possible, with Knowledge Graph. How many people are working on this, someone asked in Paris. "None", said Ben Gomes. It is algorithms that do the interpretation work. The power of Google and the wisdom of the crowd, a mighty team.
