The new year has just begun, and perhaps some good intentions have been made. I challenge you to try something new and make intentions in the business field. Here are six intentions that you as an (online) marketer can really do something with.
1. Make more friends, but not on social media
Many companies still operate partly from an island, as a marketer and company there are a lot list to data of friends to make. And with that I do not mean getting in touch with more potential customers as fans and followers on social media. Think here of the possibilities for reach-out outside your target group. For example by inviting guest bloggers .
And what about cultivating PR relationships or having lunch with an interesting person , someone you didn't know at all. Besides the fact that it's refreshing to meet new people, it's an introduction to new knowledge and that can lead to unexpected opportunities.
Ask someone how they’re doing, and chances are the answer will be “fine” or “busy-busy-busy.” I encourage everyone to keep up the pace, but the question is whether all this busyness is productive. Jason Konopinski calls it the “fallacy of busyness .” The same goes for companies and their marketing efforts.
Eyeopener alert! Being busy is largely a personal choice: You choose to be effective with your time (and money) or not. Keep track of which marketing activities cost the most time/money and what they yield (another description for calculating ROI). The second step is to improve that. Automate repetitive tasks, outsource one of the realizations and eliminate ineffective actions.
