December is a month of coziness and charity: we give en masse to charities. Nowadays, the fundraisers increasingly use social media, also known as social giving . A good moment to reflect on the popularity of online donations in the Infographic Day series .
Donations, groups and generous donors
The fact that we donate en masse to charities is shown by the Serious Request campaign of 3FM: list to data we donated no less than 12 million euros. MDG Advertising developed an infographic in which they discuss the gifts, groups and (generous) donors involved in online donations. Non-profit organizations know how to find the various social media channels and use social giving in particular on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
On Facebook, organizations most often ask for individual donations. In the 2012 Non Profit Social Network Benchmark Report, nonprofits indicate that the most important reason for the success of social giving is that they have established a social media strategy (41 percent).
For the future, there are important trends in the area of non-profit organizations and social giving. For example, the social network Facebook will play an important role in raising money. Google Plus will contribute to social giving through the integration with other Google services, such as Gmail and Google Docs. And hashtags on Twitter will be of great importance for the recruiters to reach a larger audience.
