Cybersecurity in 2019: knowledge is power

Post by suchona.kani.z »

58% of hacker victims are small businesses. The reasons are obvious. These companies are not the richest, so they cannot afford their own IT department to oversee security. And these are not small losses. In 2017, the costs exceeded $2 million. The forecast for 2019 is not the best. The number of attacks, or rather their victims and costs, will rather grow.

Danger lurks in emails
Malware, or malicious software, spreads easily through email. Companies receive hundreds of emails a day, you download attachments, click on links, often without thinking. And hackers take advantage of your carelessness and ignorance.

What the numbers say about malware in emails:

92% of malware reaches users via email.
88% of infected emails contain malware in the attachment.
The average employee receives 16 malicious emails per month.*
*Data comes from Symantec Internet Security Threat Report .

Statistically, over 300 malicious emails arrive at AITOM every overseas chinese in europe data month. It is the job of the antivirus program and firewall to prevent these emails from reaching users' inboxes.

Unfortunately, these programs are always one step behind , as they only respond to existing known threats. The only defense is caution. Just as you wouldn't let someone into your home without permission, be careful what you download.

TEACH LAY PEOPLE TO DEFEND THEMSELVES

The most insidious malware goes after money
A common virus is detected by antivirus programs quite easily. More insidious are malwares that rely on some user action, usually clicking on a link or downloading an attachment.

A virus-infected email will try to trick you into opening it and downloading malware onto your computer. Most often, malicious attachments or links are disguised as :

Account/invoice
Email not sent report
Legal document/lawsuit
Scanned documents
Pack trekking systems
The most dangerous types of malware include phishing and ransomware.
