Gas consumption in Asia is growing, in Europe it is falling

According to the first preliminary estimates, by the end of 2024, gas consumption in the world has grown by more than 100 billion cubic meters. The main growth was provided by Russia, China and India, Gazprom reported .
An increase in gas consumption in 2024 was also recorded in the Central Asian countries - Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
In the European Union and Great Britain, on the contrary, there was a decrease in gas consumption, Gazprom notes.
At the same time, Russia continued to supply gas to kuwait mobile database Europe in 2024, despite all the sanctions.
"This year, if you look at the volumes of supplies to Europe, they are about 18-20% higher than last year. In total, pipeline gas and liquefied natural gas were supplied in 11 months, probably about 50 billion cubic meters," noted Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.
According to Novak, Russian gas is in demand because it is advantageous both in terms of logistics and price.
2025 will be a mixed year for Russian gas
The current situation with Russian natural gas is extremely ambiguous, believes Pavel Maryshev, Development Director of the engineering company Energia Plus. On the one hand, there is a possibility of increasing exports through the Chinese direction next year. In particular, an agreement can be expected to create an additional pipeline between Russia and China through the territory of Kazakhstan. On the other hand, the LNG industry is experiencing serious difficulties. In particular, the largest plant, Arctic LNG-2, has suspended its operations, recalls Maryshev.
