If you only remember one idea, remember that one

For example, you can easily imagine yourself in five years in great physical shape with a beautiful family, everyone is happy, you are financially free, you have a job that you really like, you speak French fluently. It's easy to imagine all that.

But this is where it gets a little dangerous, because this is where you're going to fall into the trap that I fell into of overdoing it. And really, what I'm really calling your attention to here is that we think long term. And to be successful in the long term, we can use the kaizen mindset, which is to say, make small daily efforts instead of making big regular efforts.

To be in top physical shape in five years, you don't need to do weight training every day, stretch every day, run every day. To speak French fluently, you don't need to lock yourself away every weekend and study for hours.

The important thing is to choose for each of your goals one or two activities that you do every day no matter what, no matter what, really. It must be a part of your identity. And that is a key, really. It condenses dozens of books that I have read on the subject. This behavior that will allow you to have what you want must be part of your identity.

For example, for my health, I have set myself the goal for almost two years to walk a minimum of 6 km per day. Before, it was a little less, but that is the goal. So I am a walker. It is my identity. I walk every day. I am known for it. My children know it. If in the evening, after dinner, I have not done my quota of kilometers, I go out and do it. It is my identity.

Of course, I do a lot of other things. I go to the gym regularly, I stretch regularly, etc., but these are activities that reinforce my identity. But what I chose is something simple spain whatsapp number data that I can do every day, everywhere, no matter what, which ultimately requires no willpower. And so, I simplify my commitments. I try to do a little more, of course, but every day, I know that I have this step. Another rule is to have a minimum of 7.5 hours of sleep. I have a rule about eating too. So you see, I try to have these simple rules, easy to apply on a daily basis, and they are the ones that will have effects in the long term.

For your French learning, you can for example set yourself the goal of watching a small content every day, no matter what, and you can also add the practical aspect. You commit every day to consuming a little content in French and to practicing in writing or speaking. The Académie Français Authentique for example is the perfect place for that. I put the link in the description and in the "i" as info here, even if registrations are closed. But you see, you have to look for this kind of place where you can practice every day. If you simplify your commitments, you will achieve your vision.

The third step is to persevere, because reaching a goal takes time, making your vision a reality won't happen in a week, so really give yourself time. It sounds a bit cliché to say it like that, but it's true. "Those who fail are those who give up." There's a quote from the French statesman Georges Clemenceau that I often quote, because he said, "There is only one way to fail, and that is to give up before you succeed." It's so true.

So persist, think long term. If you say to yourself: "I feel like my efforts in French are not paying off", tell yourself: "OK. Rome wasn't built in a day". You need time, you need to persevere, you need to wait several months before judging whether the method you are using is working. And of course, if you don't see any improvement after a few months, then you can say to yourself: "Am I doing the right thing? Am I using the right method?" But give yourself time and persist.
