A, and welcome to another edition of Whiteboard Friday. This week we're talking about how to make money with SEO. Now, for many of you who are watching this video because you've probably searched on Google or YouTube for how to make money with SEO, well, I want to talk about how the process has changed dramatically over the last 10 years.

In 2009, if you were looking for a way to make money through SEO, there were a lot of schemes and manipulations and actually relatively simple, straightforward things that you could do to make money online through SEO, and that has changed. That's not the case anymore, and I think that's why you see so many people who are in the world of chile number data marketing and building lots of little websites and networks of little websites and trying to sell relatively simple, unbranded products or services or advertising revenue, that a lot of those sites have disappeared. Certainly part of it is because the margins on a lot of those products have gone down a lot. Some of it is the big competition from a lot of new entrants, including big companies like Amazon, but also a lot of other companies.

A big part of this is the way you think about making money online and how you can use SEO to do that. Now if you’re not one of those people who’s trying to do that and you’re a professional marketer instead, I still think this video will be very valuable to you because there are some key sources of change that have been brought to our industry by Google and what websites have done and consumer behavior has changed a lot in that thinking.
