Toxic Behavior and Toxic Colleagues
36% of employees have experienced toxic behavior in the workplace. They have either suffered from it or witnessed it:

24% of toxic behavior was reported. Of these, 9% of the toxic behavior was directed against the employee himself and 15% against a colleague.
In 12% of cases, the employee felt uncomfortable reporting the observed behavior.
Reporting Toxic Behavior in the Workplace
While work-related stress typically impacts employees' mental health, bullying and gossip are also causes of burnout. In addition to personal well-being, employee productivity and performance are logically affected. Of those who reported toxic behavior in the workplace, 55% said the problem was addressed and resulted in a positive outcome. 26% said the problem was addressed but nothing changed, while 19% said the problem was not addressed.

It is imperative for those working in HR and team management to ensure that every employee complaint is given sufficient attention. A toxic workplace where transparent communication is not encouraged can have a negative impact on employee morale and engagement. Training managers to understand toxic scenarios is vital for any organization to avoid negative impacts on company culture.

In the study, we wanted to find out if toxic behavior in the workplace had decreased thailand telegram ith the transition to hybrid/remote work. To find out exactly which aspects of the toxic company culture had changed/improved with the transition, we surveyed employees on nine specific behaviors ranging from the insidious (e.g. gossiping) to the obvious (e.g. yelling or fighting). For all nine behaviors, the majority say they have observed fewer toxic behaviors since the transition. In particular, arguing, gossiping and shouting have decreased.

We have found that moving to hybrid and remote work reduces toxic employee behavior. Why is hybrid work less toxic? On the one hand, it is undeniable that hybrid work arrangements create more physical distance between employees, which can reduce the number of physical altercations in the workplace.

However, most toxic behavior at work is not physical and can just as often occur through digital channels (like email or chat tools). And it is precisely in these digital interactions that the ease of reporting plays an important role. Employees who work from home feel more comfortable reporting toxic behavior.

Our data shows that 22% feel more comfortable reporting toxic workplace behavior at their current job since moving to hybrid or remote work, while 64% feel just as comfortable as before.
