Solution : The introduction of unmanned transport hardly means that people will not be involved in transport processes. What about the protection of road trains transporting valuable goods from one place to another? Currently, this function is actually carried out by truck drivers themselves, but in the future someone will still have to do this work. Maybe it will be one forwarder for two or three “trucks”, but people will still be involved. In addition, unmanned transport will require the construction of a more developed road infrastructure, and this is where workers will be needed.
Driverless cars could initially make things worse on the road, as they will be very cautious during their “learning period.” At least, that’s what a study by the U.S. Department of Transportation found when netherlands number data they looked at the issue. The same government agency believes that traffic congestion will only get worse until 50% to 75% of all cars on the road are fully autonomous.
Solution : Traffic congestion may increase for a while, but don't forget that accidents will decrease. This is because driverless vehicles will be very "cautious" at first. And also because computers can't fall asleep at the wheel or be drunk like regular drivers.
5. Difficult situations
Currently, when two cars meet at an intersection without traffic lights or road signs, there is a certain nonverbal communication between the drivers that helps them separate. Autonomous cars do not yet have a solution for this. Driverless vehicles must learn to recognize facial expressions and body language in order to function properly in places where there are pedestrians and/or signs and traffic lights are missing.
Solution : First, such a complex situation can only arise when a car with a driver encounters an unmanned vehicle. Second, it is for such situations that humanity will probably have to come up with a special alphabet of gestures that computer systems in unmanned vehicles can easily recognize.
4. Unpredictable actions of people
It’s one thing to recognize pedestrians and cyclists on the road, but it’s another to deal with unpredictable people. During testing of autonomous cars in Singapore, it was found that most of the accidents that occurred nearby were caused by people jumping in front of the car to see if they could dodge in time.
Solution : In fact, cases of such extreme behavior of people on the roads are quite rare, so you should not pay much attention to such things. Of course, road accidents will still occur after the introduction of driverless transport, but their number will most likely decrease significantly.
Initially, the number of traffic jams may even increase
