Nikita Danilov, CEO and founder of Fly Drone LLC, said that Russian insurance companies have begun offering compulsory civil liability insurance (OSAGO) for UAVs.
This is not the first type of drone insurance. Back in June 2022, Fly Drone, together with AlfaStrakhovanie, signed an agreement to launch an online insurance service for unmanned aerial vehicle flights. It allows you to choose insurance coverage and instantly issue a policy online with a coverage limit of up to 1 million rubles. Now, according to Nikita Danilov, this service also offers an insurance product from Ingosstrakh.
was developed and launched by bulgaria whatsapp resource the Aeroscript Research Center (R&C) back in 2022. The OSAGO insurance service for UAS is implemented in the Nebosvod platform. "A year ago, together with Renaissance Insurance, we implemented a fast drone insurance service in Nebosvod. OSAGO can already be issued in a few clicks at the best prices on the market. Next year, we will launch CASCO insurance. Insurance companies should study not the devices for reliability, but the operational environments in which they are used for risks. In general, this is already happening, rates can change depending on the operating conditions of drones. Just like you get yourself medical insurance - if you are on vacation, one rate, if you are engaged in extreme sports, then another. It is the same with drones. In 2024, a digital risk management service will be launched in the Nebosvod platform, which will also affect insurance," Alexey Khripunov, General Director of the Aeroscript Research Center (R&D Center), told ComNews.
The website of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company lists two types of insurance for drones that can be purchased online: UAV owner liability insurance and UAV comprehensive insurance. The first option implies liability for damage to life, health or property of third parties during UAV operation, with a limit of 50 thousand rubles to 1 million rubles. When purchasing comprehensive insurance, compensation occurs in the event of damage or total loss of the UAV during flight, and its amount is from 50 thousand rubles to 270 thousand rubles. The insurance coverage area, in addition to the Russian Federation, includes the CIS and EU countries, Turkey, Egypt, Thailand and Tanzania. Insurance is not valid in areas where UAV flights are prohibited.
"In the context of drones, it makes sense to talk about insurers studying the qualifications of the external pilot, reliability, flight tracks, as well as the volume of work performed by him. But how exactly all this information will affect the proposed rate, only the market will be able to answer and only when Russian insurance companies have significant volumes of sold insurance. The current volumes are not yet sufficient for a systemic analysis," Nikita Danilov told a ComNews correspondent about the approaches to calculating rates for UAVs by insurance companies.
