Out-of-the-box Event Tracing One of the things that stands out when using GA4 is the ease of setup and how quickly you can start collecting event data. For Google Universal Analytics, you need to create custom events for everything except page views. In GA4, everything is event-based, and you can use the new enhanced event measurement to automatically capture some events. In addition to forcing page views, you can capture page scrolls (90% depth only), outbound clicks, site searches, form interactions, video engagement, and file downloads.

This is a great opportunity to review our paytm data existing event tracking strategy and see what we do or don’t need to custom implement in our new GA4 properties. The adoption of Google Analytics 4 also allowed us to identify which KPIs were important to our stakeholders. After analyzing the data, we concluded that some of the previous conversions no longer made sense and identified new strategies for measuring success.

Creating Conversion Events Traditionally, Setting up conversions in GA4 is much easier. Simply mark any existing event as a conversion: define a new conversion event. Given the simplicity of setup, it is recommended that you limit the individuals with this access to prevent any unintentional misconfiguration. You must have Editor (or higher) role to manage conversions.
