Types of work-study contracts
The professionalization contract: both student and employee
The professionalization contract is reserved for students aged 16 to 25 or job seekers aged 26 and over. It is concluded for a period of 6 to 24 months, during which the apprentice receives a salary ranging from 55% to 100% of the minimum wage, depending on their age and level of study.



Its advantages:

To sign a professionalization contract , the employer must be subject to the financing of continuing professional training. Such a contract cannot be concluded with the State, a local authority or a public administrative establishment.



The terms of the professionalization contract , and in particular the diplomas which can be prepared, are specified by the professional branch on which the company depends.



The apprenticeship contract: first and foremost an employee
The apprenticeship contract is open to students aged 16 to 29. It is concluded for a period of 6 to 36 months, during which the apprentice receives remuneration ranging from 55% to 100% of the minimum wage, depending on their age and level of study.



Its advantages:

The training is supported by the company,
This contract is accessible to many employers.


On the other hand, in the context of an apprenticeship contract, the apprentice is considered a full-fledged employee, which grants him certain advantages (coverage of training costs, gross salary is almost equivalent to net salary, etc.).

The apprenticeship contract is open to many sectors: it can be signed by a company in the craft, commercial, industrial or agricultural sectors, associations, liberal professions, but also employers in the non-industrial and commercial public sector (local public services, hospitals, State, public administrative establishments).
