It is a fact that Spain is at the bottom of Europe in terms of investment in research and development.
Over the last few years and in the wake of the crisis, the term "brain drain" has been used frequently to refer to the Spanish scientific and research talent that has had to leave the country to build a future for itself due to the obvious lack of resources in our territory.
However, now that the government itself is trumpeting economic growth, there are no excuses for not increasing the budget allocations in this area.
And that is precisely what the world's largest multinationals have asked Rajoy to do.
They have done so, as reported by the newspaper Expansión , through the Decalogue of Innovation that the association Multinationals for the Spain Brand wanted to send to the Secretaries of State for R&D&I, Carmen Vela, and for the Information Society and Digital Agenda, José María Lasalle, and Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros, High Commissioner for the Spain Brand.
The subsidiaries of these multinationals represent 35% of private investment bulgaria phone number in research and development in our country, which amounts to 2 billion euros. For this reason, they are asking the central government to commit to promoting research, development and innovation policies.
Companies participating in the petition include Facebook, Google, HSBC, Huawei, IBM, Leroy Merlin, L'Oréal, Lufthansa and Siemens.
The multinationals' requests therefore require the Executive to launch "public campaigns aimed at highlighting the importance of R&D&I, and in particular, for the future of Spanish companies and employment" and to create an Innovation Council.
Furthermore, the report requests that "budgetary restrictions do not affect areas as important for competitiveness as R&D&I and the development of the digital society" and that tax aid be maintained in order to encourage investment in this field.
