For many, Google's virtual assistant is much better than Siri in terms of reliability and capacity, something that can be said especially on Google devices. However, this is not the case on iPhones, as it seems that the assistant does not quite catch on in Apple's territory , where Siri remains the favorite.
Google has unveiled a new version of its assistant at Google I/O , with a dedicated app for the iPhone . This takes advantage of Google services such as Gmail, something that the audience really liked.
However, the reality is different, as for iPhone users Siri will always be better than Google Assistant, information that does not favor Alphabet Inc. at all, which has as its main objective to make its voice-based technology ubiquitous. But what are the reasons why iPhone users prefer and will prefer Siri? Bloomberg breaks down the reasons:
The Google Assistant must be downloaded from the App Store , while Siri enters the iPhone functions from the moment the device is turned on, something much more convenient for all users.
You can't launch it by pressing the iPhone's home button or even by voice, which is not the case with Siri, as Apple's assistant is automatically activated by clicking the home button for a few seconds, or by saying "Hey Siri." Siri is a great and quick option when you want to activate iPhone features like airplane mode or set an alarm.
It can't launch apps, search some Apple stores, or pull up photos. However, Siri is capable of doing so, and this is one of the features that users like the most, as it searches for any app in the App Store, movie in iTunes, etc.
, which Siri can't, as it can seamlessly send users to the Uber or Lyft apps to hail a ride, or to WhatsApp or Telegram if they want to forward text messages.
Most Apple services don't work well with the Google Assistant because they brazil phone number require additional permission. There are exceptions, but this is generally the case with most of Apple's built-in services. So, Siri can be asked for any such function without any problem.
Google Assistant is not easy to use in the car, unlike Siri, which is fully integrated into the car's Bluetooth system. Thus, the user simply has to hold down the home button on the iPhone or press a key assigned to it on the steering wheel or say the Siri voice command.
For all these reasons, Google Assistant is no match for Siri on the iPhone at the moment, though you never know and it’s possible that over time Apple will make things easier for the Google Assistant. Regardless, Google Assistant has two advantages over Siri on the iPhone , as you can type into the assistant, and it also has a Google Home speaker , and the iPhone assistant integrates well with that device to control other connected home devices.
