The Digital Economy Institute of ESIC Business & Marketing School has held the conference Yo Robot: Jobs that are going to disappear, where it has addressed how the incorporation of robots will make even some qualified jobs obsolete.

Professional experts from the sector have analysed how automation, robotics and artificial intelligence will influence the evolution of new professions and how they will impact the future of work as we know it today.

The event was opened by Pilar Llácer , Director of the Senior Management Program in Digital Talent and Independent Human Resources Advisor, PhD Business Ethics, Corporate Social Responsibility (RSC) at ICEMD, who gave way to Carmen García, Director of Cognitive Solutions for Banking and Insurance for Southern Europe - Spain, Portugal, Greece and Israel - at IBM, Aitor Larrabe , Talent Director at Ferrovial, Mª Luz Rodriguez , Professor of Labor Law at UCLM and President of the Advisory Board of Sagardo y Abogados, and Javier Sirvent, Technology Evangelist, who highlighted the importance of training, reinvention and a permanent learning attitude so that workers - regardless of their qualifications - have the same opportunities to integrate into a work environment marked by automation, the arrival of robots and Artificial Intelligence.

During the day, four presentations were made, dealing with relevant sri lanka phone number aspects such as what people can do that machines will never be able to do, the need for constant training, or the acceptance that a concept such as “a job for life” is already a thing of the past.

Carmen García, Director of Cognitive Solutions for Banking and Insurance for Southern Europe – Spain, Portugal, Greece and Israel – at IBM focused her speech on the Principles for the Cognitive Era. According to her, “artificial intelligence will touch all facets of our lives, with the potential to radically transform them for the better. The arrival of AI to all segments of society requires the creation of an ethical code to regulate it. For IBM, the keys to this ethical code can be summarized in three guidelines: the purpose , which must be to help human beings, not to replace them.

Transparency in everything related to people's data, who has it, who uses it, and what they use it for. And the capabilities, there are jobs that are going to disappear, there are people whose training can be improved and they will have to improve in order to be able to integrate without difficulty into the new jobs that technology is going to create and that do not yet exist. We must close the training gap that will be generated by the destruction of old jobs and the creation of new ones.”

Aitor Larrabe, Director of Talent at Ferrovial, highlighted that: “There are already new technologies that impact people’s personal and professional lives on a daily basis. When artificial intelligence emerged, it was only used by a small group of people, but now it is integrated into everything. Technology has thus become a facilitator for improving people’s skills and providing them with increased capabilities.”

For her part, Mª Luz Rodríguez, Professor of Labour Law at UCLM and President of the Advisory Board of Sagardo y Abogados, said: “It is impossible for us to know how many jobs will be destroyed, or how many jobs will be created, but we must bear in mind that –even among some of the tasks of qualified jobs- it is possible to automate processes and technology will prevail and everything that can be automated will be automated. In Spain, 55% of jobs could already be automated with existing technology.
