Of course, the above is not the holy grail of strategy. No silver bullet for all your strategic work. I even think that many strategists do this unconsciously. Learning about many subjects and (consciously or unconsciously) applying the lessons elsewhere.
But if you do get stuck… Or if you do have trouble getting started in forming your marketing strategy, then you need to look for a solution much more consciously. Is that the case? Then, as far as I’m concerned, there are only three simple steps to take:
Take a good look at the problem that email list b2b your strategy is supposed to solve. Tip: by asking “why doesn’t this work out automatically”, you often get a long way. If a product sells itself, or a brand image is already fantastic, you are not needed. What is in the way? That is the problem.
Now take that problem and think of where this problem also occurs. Where it is unusually large. And learn from it. It is that simple. Shamelessly turn that other solution or approach of someone else into your approach. What already worked well for that other person? What do you still need to change? What do you have no influence on and therefore cannot change? All of that together is the beginning of your strategy.
Be honest about where you got your inspiration. Give credit . Your job was to find a solution, not to be the solution. Or as a certain Isaac Newton once said: “If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants”.
