Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur is an administrative region located in the south-east of France . It is made up of 6 departments, namely: Hautes-Alpes , Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Alpes-Maritimes , Var, Bouches-du-Rhône and Vaucluse. It has a facade that opens onto the Mediterranean Sea . It is also bordered by two other administrative regions: Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes to the north and Occitanie to the west. Finally, its border to the east is bordered by Italy.



Marseille is the main city of the region and is the second largest city in France with office 365 data its 873,716 inhabitants in 2021. Other major cities are: Nice , Toulon, Aix-en-Provence, Avignon, Cannes, Antibes, La Seyne-sur-Mer and Fréjus. In 2021, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region has 5,089,000 inhabitants, which represents 8% of the population of metropolitan France .



Provence, France's leading tourist destination
Provence is one of the most popular destinations in France during the summer season. With its 9 million visitors per year, it ranks first ahead of Brittany and Languedoc-Roussillon. Its foreign clientele is mainly made up of Italians, Germans, British, Belgians, Chinese, Japanese and Arabs. If the region is very endearing, it is because it is full of places to visit and activities.

Provence is characterized by a great diversity of relief and landscapes. For example, there are high mountain areas in the north and plain areas in the west. The mountain covers the 31,400 km² of the region. The coastline , meanwhile, extends over 700 kilometers.
