Why automation is necessary for

The problem with current BIM tools is that they must ultimately produce coordinated sets of drawings. If AI can find a better approach to automate this task, half of the functionality of BIM tools will become redundant. You can model in anything: Rhino, SketchUp, Blender BIM. Will we need monolithic BIM solutions for modeling and producing drawings in the future? Time will tell.

For those looking to get started with automation now, Speckle has an exciting new capability telefonnummer iran to reduce time-consuming tasks. By connecting Speckle connectors built into modern BIM tools with APIs and SDKs, you can create automated workflows based on key triggers. For example, automatically running analytics when a design changes and is then loaded into Speckle, or performing quality control and clash detection operations.

The Speckle team is also working on implementing artificial intelligence and recently announced the ability to use ChatGPT in their solution for “chatting” with BIM objects in the model.

As companies migrate applications like Revit to the cloud, startups are starting to think they have new growth opportunities in the marketplace. And they want to use them as quickly as possible while Autodesk is distracted by the migration process. But users quickly become accustomed to applications and don’t like to see their hard-earned expertise devalued. So even if there were no new competitors in the market, Autodesk’s new cloud tools would still face resistance from longtime Revit users who prefer desktop computers and work with files.

The BIM market is currently being competed for by Snaptrude, Arcol, and Qonic, with at least two more companies still “in the shadows.” These cloud-based applications have already gone through some BIM development. Qonic is in the category of BIM applications with a focus somewhere between architects and builders, but without built-in tools for creating 2D documentation. Snaptrude aims to replicate Revit’s core functionality, from concept to document work. Arcol is focused on SketchUp and early design. And all of them are planning to replace the current major BIM players.

But Autodesk will continue to fight for its leadership status, gradually adding new functionality to Revit, while simultaneously developing its cloud offering Forma. Unless Autodesk decides to gobble up other businesses again, as it did with Softdesk in 1996 to create AutoCAD Architectural Desktop, and with Charles River Software, better known as Revit Technology Corporation, in 2002.
