Hamburg is the capital of IT professionals

Hamburg is the federal state with the highest concentration of IT specialists. In the Hanseatic city-state, 4.4 percent of all employees subject to social insurance contributions work as computer scientists or in other IT professions. This is an increase of 0.2 percentage points compared to the previous year and still means that it holds the top spot in the federal state ranking. Behind them are Berlin (3.7 percent, +0.2 points) and Hesse (3.4 percent, +0.1), while Baden-Württemberg has caught up (3.4 percent, +0.2 points). This is followed by Bavaria (3.2 percent, +0.1) and Bremen (3.0 percent, +0.2), all of which are above the national average (2.7 percent, +0.1). Far behind in last place are Brandenburg (1.1 percent, +0.1), Saxony-Anhalt (1.0 percent, unchanged) and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (1.0 percent, +0.1).

This was announced by the digital association Bitkom . netherland gambling data "IT jobs are becoming increasingly important. There are already 2,700 IT specialists for every 100,000 employees and their share will continue to rise," says Bitkom President Achim Berg. "The Corona pandemic has given digitization a strong boost. In the digital sector, the business climate is better than it has been for 30 months. Many companies are desperately looking for IT professionals. There are 86,000 vacancies across all sectors, and if there weren't a lack of young talent, the job balance could be much more positive."

Nationwide, there are 897,215 employees subject to social insurance contributions in IT and other ICT professions, which is almost 41,110 more than in the previous year (+4.8 percent). Almost half (434,393) are employed in IT and telecommunications companies, the rest work in other sectors. In absolute terms, the most employees subject to social insurance contributions in IT professions are in Bavaria (183,458), where a fifth (20 percent) of German IT specialists work. The number is similarly high in North Rhine-Westphalia (181,613), followed by Baden-Württemberg (159,054). In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, on the other hand, there are just under 5,720 employees subject to social insurance contributions in IT professions.
