Have I heard any new stories that convince me that I need a smart lock? No. Partly, that is because I do not do any Airbnb-like activities. Packages are also delivered, if necessary to the neighbors. Or I simply have them dropped off at a pick-up point such as my local supermarket. The smart home concept could work. But if you look realistically, there are better places to start: from energy saving, lighting or even security systems (but without smart locks).
The Internet of Things is slowly advancing in the Netherlands. Why slowly? First of all, IoT is a broad category, as you may have read in this article. Toon is the most installed smart thermostat in the Netherlands, and perhaps the European market leader. But that is just one application. While there are also Hue lamps, smart locks, smart switches, etc. The lack of interoperability between these devices is being addressed, including by Triggi . But in the jungle of suppliers, standards and protocols, there is still some time to go before we have seamless interoperability and an app to control everything. Still, in sub-areas such as a smart thermostat, the Internet of Things adds value. And it saves you money. That is crystal clear.
When is a video from an influencer sponsored? YouTubers are required to be transparent about this. But sometimes it was unclear how they can meet this transparency obligation. That is why there is now the Social Code: YouTube, which ensures that YouTubers clearly state when they are advertising, or when they have received something for free, for example. The Social Code, which consists of four italy whatsapp number rules, is an initiative of the Dutch Media Authority and a group of YouTubers, in collaboration with MCNs (multichannel networks) and the Advertising Code Committee.
Why the Social Code?
The European Audiovisual Media Services Directive will soon be overhauled. It looks like children will be better protected against (surreptitious) advertising, also on YouTube. Up until now, the Commission has not been responsible for what is broadcast on YouTube, but when the new directive is in place, it will be partly. Including the power to impose fines.
The Media Authority wanted to anticipate this. In consultation with the YouTubers, self-regulation was therefore chosen, which took shape in the Social Code.
Voluntary affiliation
The new rules are not law. YouTubers can voluntarily join them. They can register at Desocialcode.nl to be placed on a kind of whitelist. Of course, the YouTuber must then adhere to the four rules. They are also required to announce for the first time that they will adhere to the Social Code from that date.
There are hardly any consequences for non-compliance. Those who have joined may be checked. If the expressions do not comply with the code, the YouTuber may be addressed. That is all.
