What are stop words in text

Post by subornaakter20 »

Not everyone can write a really good text, although there are a lot of writers and copywriters now. Most of the articles written by private contractors are of little content. They contain a minimum of useful information. Stop words in the text make the article uninteresting, difficult to perceive. This repels the reader, and the person, having visited the page, leaves it almost immediately.

Stop words
There is a category of words, the removal of which from the text not only does not violate its meaning, but, on the contrary, makes it more understandable, easier to perceive. They buy a motorcycle owner mailing list are called stop words.

American professor William Strunk Jr. in his small book "The Elements of Style" (1920, USA) listed the rules that help to write in an accessible and interesting way. The professor calls the use of unnecessary words one of the common mistakes.

Dynamic text must be capacious - this idea was first expressed by William Strunk. Extra words spoil a sentence, and extra sentences overload a paragraph, just as a painting does not need extra brushstrokes, and extra details will interfere with the mechanism.

This is not a call to shorten every sentence to a minimum, to leave out important details and to give descriptions in general terms. This is a recommendation not to use stop words in the text, they do not carry a semantic load and only interfere with perception.

Similar recommendations are in the book by editor and translator Nora Gal, “The Living and the Dead Word,” published in the USSR (1972). The author calls for not using officialese, verbal nouns (instead of verbs), to express things simply, without excessive formality, to use fewer words of foreign origin, more Russian, and to try to quickly grasp the essence.
