Small Data: What is it?

Post by chameli »

After Big Data, Smart Data, let's look at its smallest definition, Small Data. Small data is the very essence of Big Data. Indeed, small data does not come from Big Data, unlike Smart data. All companies have data on their customers, whether minimal or not. Exploiting it is very difficult. Especially for small companies that do not have the means (time and financial) to manage their data. Small data is the opposite of other models, because there is no need for a processing tool. However, the purpose remains the same, that of understanding, analyzing and improving the customer journey. How is it possible to define Small Data? What differentiates it from other notions of data processing? And above all, who is it used for? This term was first put forward by Rufus Pollock, founder of the Open Knowledge Foundation . He defines this notion as follows:

“Small data is the amount of data that you can comfortably store and use on a single machine, and more specifically on a single high-quality laptop or server.”

Based on this definition and the figures on Big Data, Small Data becomes the most interesting alternative for SMEs and VSEs. Indeed, this type of company does not always have the means to process its data. switzerland whatsapp data

So the solution allows you to take only the data that you have. This type of structure having limited volumes of data, can store them themselves. The goal of Small Data is to have a more precise vision to guide your strategy and to leave a part of human intuition in this decision-making.

In addition, Small Data consists of simple data that can be processed by everyone. These data are: name, first name, address, telephone number or loyalty card data .
