Meta recently unveiled new generative AI tools for WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger. In a closed-door meeting, CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that it aims to help people “create content and express their ideas better” using AI in accessible features along the lines of ChatGPT and DALL-E.
There are several tools planned to incorporate Meta's platforms, most of them focused on entertainment and content creation.
New AIs on WhatsApp and Instagram
One of the tools presented is artificial intelligence that would edit photos for Instagram. According to the description of meeting participants heard by the website Axios, the tool receives prompts from the user (like an image generator like DALL-E or Midjourney) to quickly modify the image.
Another tool would be a sort of ChatGPT-style nigeria whatsapp data conversational AI, but with different personalities geared toward helping or entertaining the user. The new features will likely be the same as those Zuckerberg teased in February of this year.
There's also the Messenger sticker generator, a messaging add-on for Facebook and Instagram. The feature would allow users to create stickers on the spot from text descriptions — perhaps the same one found in development at Insta a few weeks ago.
Meta's CEO did not mention a release date for any of the tools.
Internal use AIs
Meta doesn’t just want to leverage its own AI research for commercial tools, it also wants to explore its potential for internal use. One such feature is an “Agent Playground” powered by the LLaMA model, where employees could engage in conversations with AIs to boost productivity.
Additionally, there is MetaGen, an image-generating tool used exclusively by company employees for prototyping, and Metamate, a productivity assistant with access to the company's internal data.
Meta wants to democratize Ias
“Democratizing access [to AI tools] has a lot of value,” Zuckerberg was quoted as saying by The New York Times. “But it’s also in line with the product vision of enabling many different AIs, rather than just trying to consolidate that into one AI that’s going to rule everything,” the executive added.
By integrating AI tools into apps like WhatsApp and Messenger, Meta is putting the technology within reach of millions of people. The sheer popularity of the company’s platforms reduces user friction for new features, which could propel the company ahead of competitors like OpenAI and Microsoft.
